Upon arrival Chino Valley Independent Fire District paramedics found David Castillo, 48 years old of Diamond Bar unconscious with severe head injuries.
The industrial building is currently undergoing renovation by a New Jersey based company. The space previously occupied by Ethan Allen Manufacturing was in the process of having several pieces of machinery removed. During the removal process there was a fire within the building that caused some roof damage. Workers were hired to remove the damaged roof pieces caused by the fire. It was during the removal of the fire damaged roof pieces that the worker fell through an opening twenty-five feet to the concrete floor below.
The victim was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center and then later air lifted to Arrowhead Regional Trauma Center due to the severity of his injuries. The victim is in critical condition. Investigators with the Chino Police Department, Chino Code Enforcement and Building Department are currently handling the investigation. No citations have been issued and the cause has not been determined.
