By Inland Empire • Sep 6th, 2008 • Category: Other NewsDetails: On Friday, September 5, 2008, around 1849 hours, deputies received a report of a drowning on the 29600 block of Catano Road in Menifee. It was reported that a 14-month-old girl had fallen into a pool at the location.
Deputy Javier Ethridge, a member of the sheriff’s K9 unit assigned to the Perris station, arrived and found the girl’s father, Scott Stevens, attempting to perform CPR on the child. Deputy Ethridge saw that the girl was lifeless and blue in color. He took over CPR and, with assistance from Stevens, was able to revive her. The girl was transported to Inland Valley Hospital via ambulance where it was reported that she had good vital signs and was in stable condition.
Investigators believe one of the girl’s siblings climbed up on a box in order to reach the pool gate latch and enter the pool area. The sibling left the gate open allowing the girl to have access to the pool.
