San Bernardino – Probation Violator Wanted for Questioning in Derrick Hampton Murder

Sgt T. Bielaszka explains that on Sunday, September 21, 2008,  at about 8:49 PM, the San Bernardino Police Department’s dispatch center received reports of a shooting incident in the 1500 block of  West Alturus Street in San Bernardino.  Patrol officers and paramedics from the San Bernardino City Fire Department responded to investigate.

Upon arrival officers located a crime scene and found Mr. Derrick M. Hampton (age 18, of San Bernardino suffering from a gunshot wound.  Mr. Hampton was transported by paramedics to San Bernardino Community Hospital for treatment where he later died of his wounds. Mr. Hampton was a documented gang member from that neighborhood. The investigation is still in the initial stage.

MR. CARL EUGENE POLK (AKA Big Yella – DOB: 04-10-1984) was present when Mr. Hampton was shot and killed on September 21, 2008.  He is wanted by the San Bernardino Police Department for questioning only.  However, he has a NO BAIL felony warrant active for his arrest for violation of probation.

The San Bernardino Police Department is now actively searching for MR. CARL EUGENE POLK (DOB: 04-10-1984) who is also known by the street name of “Big Yella.”  He is a Black male adult 5’08”, 160 lbs, black hair and brown eyes. He has a thin build and a medium dark complexion. He may be armed with a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.  If you see him or know where he is immediately call your local police.  Do not try to detain or arrest him yourself.
