Upon their arrival they discovered a man who had been the victim of an assault and had been cut with a sharp instrument. The man was not able to relay the facts of the assault and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
While investigating these events, Irvine Police received information that an Irvine woman had driven herself to an area hospital and told hospital staff that she had been assaulted as well. She told initial Irvine officers and hospital staff that the victim on Peyton was an acquaintance of hers.
Irvine Detectives began to put together the initial facts and arrested Robert Avery McClain a 34 year old Irvine man in connection with the two assaults.
McClain was transported to an area hospital for injuries that he apparently sustained in the overnight events. He is expected to be booked later today on charges including; attempted murder, aggravated assault, and domestic violence.
McClain is a deputy for the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department.
