By Inland Empire • Jul 1st, 2009 • Category: Lead StoryInvestigations Lt. D. Keil explains that on Monday, June 29, 2009, at about 9:00 PM, the San Bernardino Police Department’s dispatch center received reported of a possible shooting in the 600 block of West 16th Street, in San Bernardino. Uniformed patrol officers and paramedics from the San Bernardino City Fire Department responded.
Upon arriving on-scene, officers initially discovered two shooting victims (Mr. Ardell Holmes, age 33 from San Bernardino and Mr. Ivory Houston, age 32 from San Bernardino). Shortly thereafter, officers learned that a third victim (a 17-year-old juvenile from San Bernardino) had been located a short distance away. All three victims were transported to local hospitals. Mr. Ivory Houston subsequently died of his injuries.
Thus far, the investigation indicates that the incident occurred as the result of an earlier neighborhood dispute between multiple subjects, wherein subjects later returned and exchanged gunfire resulting in Mr. Ivory Houston and Mr. Ardell Holmes being struck. The juvenile victim does not appear to have been involved, rather was simply driving by when hit by a stray round.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective John Munoz at (909) 384-5630 or the SBPD 24-hour hotline at (909) 384-5656.
