By Inland Empire • Jul 9th, 2009 • Category: FeaturesOn Wednesday, July 8th, 2009, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Deputy Mark James was dispatched to a follow up of a residential burglary. The victim states that his house had been burglarized over the weekend and his neighbors’ trash was overflowing, so he peeked inside to find DVD cases matching the movies taken from his house.
When Deputy James arrived he learned from the burglary victim and others in the neighborhood that they believed the family was illegally occupying the residence. At some point the persons that last owned the home showed up and verified that the home had gone into foreclosure and was currently bank owned. Deputy James requested Deputy Kelly Craig to assist with the investigation. Deputy Craig specializes in many different facets of rental property investigations. He’s part of the Crime Free Rental Program Enforcement and has done many Section 8 violation cases. Deputies James and Craig made contact at the suspect’s home. Deputy Craig asked the occupants to provide proof they were legally occupying the home. After investigation it was learned that the rental agreement the suspect’s provided was in fact fraudulent. Deputy James immediately recognized the female that answered the door and two of the males in the residence as those on surveillance of the armed robbery at La Mexicana Market on Monday afternoon. All eight occupants were taken back to the Victorville Police Station for questioning.
Earlier in the week, Monday, July 6th, 2009, Deputy James responded to an armed robbery that took place at La Mexicana Market on 7th St., Victorville. The two male suspects and a female robbed the clerk at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. Only the clerk was present in the store and she was unharmed.
While Deputy James was investigating the robbery, Deputy Vanessa Duardo was dispatched to an armed robbery with the same suspect descriptions, at Armando’s Furniture on 7th and Lorene. The suspect’s took an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk at gunpoint and the wallets from the clerk and owner of the business. No one else was in the business at the time of the robbery and they were unharmed.
Search warrants were sought for the Jackrabbit Ln. address and an address in the 15000 block of Wildrose St. where one of the suspect’s vehicle is registered to. Detectives and deputies located stolen property, clothing and a .38 special handgun that matches the description of the weapon and clothing used in the armed robberies. The wallets belonging to the victims of the robbery at Armando’s Furniture were recovered in the search warrant. Property taken in the residential burglary was also recovered.
The three suspects from the robberies were positively identified by victims and match the surveillance video obtained from one of the businesses. The remaining detainees were released after questioning. Suspect Norwood was arrested and booked on an outstanding felony warrant, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana for sales. Suspects Williams and Evans were arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery. Suspect Bingham was arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery and receiving stolen property. All are expected to be booked at Victor Valley Jail.
