By Inland Empire • Jul 14th, 2009 • Category: Inland EmpireOn July 13, 2009, about 2:04 P.M., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a report of an injury traffic collision at Portola Avenue and Magnesia Falls in the city of Palm Desert.
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle versus bicyclist collision. The Riverside County Fire Department responded and treated the bicyclist, who was then transported by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The Palm Desert Police Traffic Team responded and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC pickup driven by Jose Espinoza, age 47 of La Quinta, struck the 33-year-old bicyclist, a resident of Palm Desert. The investigation is on-going as to the cause of the collision.
The Palm Desert Police Traffic Team consists of two Sergeants, along with the Motorcycle Enforcement Unit and our Traffic Collision Investigation Officers. Members of the Traffic Team investigate traffic collisions, enforce traffic laws, develop traffic flow plans and assist with special events.
