By Inland Empire • Sep 21st, 2009 • Category: Lead StoryOn Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 5:25 p.m., officers from the Perris Police Department responded to an emergency call of a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Hwy. 74 and east of West 7th Street within the City of Perris.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving the emergency call and located a female adult victim that sustained fatal injuries from a hit and run vehicle while she crossed Hwy. 74.
The Perris Police Department Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the intersection and assumed the investigation.
The initial investigation revealed that a compact, coupe-type vehicle was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 74 when it struck the victim as she crossed the highway from north to south. The suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after colliding with the victim.
The name of the female victim is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
This investigation is continuing. The Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident or anyone that may have witnessed the collision to contact the Perris Police Department Traffic Division at (951) 210-1000.
