Cabazon Station – Found Lost Hikers (Update)

On November 7th, 2009, at approximately 11:45 P.M., the Riverside Sheriff’s Department received notification that State Park Rangers, who had set out in search of the lost/missing hikers, located the hikers on the Cornell Trail approximately an hour’s walking distance from the top of the Palm Springs Tram. State Park Rangers reported the trio to be in good health, and in good physical condition. On November 8th, 2009, at approximately 12:30 A.M., the hikers, identified as Elaine Pham, 37 years old of Westminister, Cady Nguyen, 26 years old of Westminister and Thi Nguyen, 23 years old Westminister, reached the top of the Palm Springs Arial Tram and were subsequently returned to their vehicles at the base of the tram. All three declined medical treatment and departed the location. This concluded the Search & Rescue operation.

Details:

On November 7th, 2009, at approximately 8:15 P.M., the Riverside Sheriff’s Department was notified of three lost hikers last seen in the area of Cornell Peak. The hikers, identified as three Asian females ranging in age from 23 to 37 of Westminister, became separated from their family members and have not been seen since 7:50 P.M. According to family members, all three females have cell phones, but are dressed in light clothing and have limited food and water. Deputies from the Cabazon Station responded to the Palm Springs Tram, and immediately began coordinating a search for the missing hikers with Riverside County Mountain Rescue Unit.
