Highland – Armed Robbery at A & S Liquor

By Inland Empire • Nov 24th, 2009 • Category: TopicsOn November 21, 2009 at approximately 10:46 p.m., deputies from the Highland Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a call of an armed robbery that occurred at A & S Liquor in the 8000 block of Del Rosa in the City of Highland.
Upon arrial, deputies were advised that the suspect had entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect’s description was immediately aired to all surrounding deputies in the area of the incident location. A subject matching the suspect’s description was observed fleeing the location by a Sheriff’s Deputy and was detained.
During the investigation, the victim identified as the suspect, Marvin Avinger, as being involved in the robbery.
A trail of evidence was located and showed the path the suspect took while fleeing. Marvin Avinger was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Avinger is being charged with PC 211 Armed Robbery. The stolen money was located on his person and returned to the victim.
