Attempted Murder Suspect In Custody

By Inland Empire • Jan 23rd, 2010 • Category: NewsOn December 31, 2005, Justin Learmont was identified as the suspect in a shooting in Lucerne Valley. On January 13, 2006, Learmont was arrested and booked for the attempted murder.
On Tuesday, December 8, 2009 Learmont accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 35 years to life. During the plea agreement, it was agreed that Learmont would be granted a release for one month to attend to some personal matters and ordered to return to court on January 7, 2010. Learmont failed to appear in court and a no bail warrant was issued for him.
The Sheriff’s High Desert Crime Impact Team began investigating to determine Learmont’s whereabouts. The investigation revealed that Learmont was in Knoxville, Tennessee at the home of some friends.
On Friday, January 22, 2010 the Crime Impact Team Investigators contacted the U.S. Marshall’s Service and advised them of Learmont’s whereabouts. The U.S. Marshall’s located Learmont at the Knoxville residence and took him into custody without incident.
Learmont will be extradited to San Bernardino County at a later date.
