By Inland Empire • Jan 30th, 2010 • Category: NewsOn Friday, January 29, 2010 at about approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Police station received a report that the suspect, Edgar Flores, was involved in a dispute with family at his residence and he was armed with an assault rifle and a sword. Flores left the residence and was believed to be under the influence of narcotics and intended to utilize his weapons.
Two sheriff’s deputies located Flores in his vehicle at a shopping center at Soquel Canyon and Butterfield Ranch Road. As the deputies attempted to contace him, Flores fled in his vehicle and a pursuit ensued. Flores returned to his home and exited the vehicle carrying the assault rifle. He fled into the residence and barricaded himself. Several neighboring agencies assited in setting up a perimter to contain Flores and to provide security for nearby residents. After engaging him in dialogue, Flores surrendered to deputies outside of his residence at about 9:00 p.m.
A search warrant was executed at the home and deputies recovered a loaded SKS assault rifle, ammuntion, a sword, and narcotic paraphernalia.
Edgar Flores was transported and booked at West Valley Detention Center. No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured during the incident.
