Riverside – Suspicious Device

Riverside, CA – On Monday, February 1, at about 03:51 p.m. officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to the 3400 block of Kansas Avenue to investigate reports of a suspicious device. The first arriving officers located the device, which was on the ground next to a stationary mailbox.

As a precautionary measure, officers blocked off the immediate area to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic and requested the assistance of the Riverside Fire Department.

Based on the circumstances, the Riverside Police Department’s Technical Services Unit also responded and examined the device. The device was subsequently rendered safe and determined to be non-explosive.

There were no independent witnesses available for contact other than the initial reporting citizen and the investigation remains open.
