Incident Summary

On Saturday, 2-6-10 at 1937 hours Murrieta officers attempted to stop a 1997 Honda Accord for a vehicle code violation in the area of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and the I-15 freeway. The driver of the Honda fled from officers onto the northbound I-15.

Officers learned that the vehicle was reported stolen from Diamond Bar, Ca. Officers pursued the Honda on the I-15 freeway and onto surface streets in the city of Wildomar – reaching speeds of approximately 100 MPH. During the pursuit, the Honda slowed within the Windsong Valley residential tract of Wildomar and a passenger from the vehicle fled within this community.

The driver of the Honda continued to flee from officers in the vehicle and, a short time later, collided with a Murrieta Police Department patrol unit in the 22000 block of Gierson Avenue in Wildomar. The driver of the Honda, Michelle Mills – 26 year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, was taken into custody at the collision site without incident. No one from either vehicle (the Honda or the patrol unit) was injured as a result of the collision. The pursuit lasted a total of 12 minutes and covered approximately 13 miles.

Officers from the Murrieta Police Department, along with deputies/officers from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol assisted with the search of the passenger who fled the stolen vehicle – but was met with negative results. Mills was later booked at the Southwest Detention Center for CVC 10851(a) – Auto Theft, PC 496(a) – Possession of Stolen Property, CVC 2800.2(a) – Felony Evading, PC 1203.2(a) – Probation Violation, B&P 4140 – Possession of a Hype Syringe, and a felony drug warrant.
